Eltrombopag (as Olamine) is indicated for the treatment of thrombocytopenia and severe aplastic anaemia. Indications include primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in adult and paediatric patients aged 6 years and above who are refractory to other treatments (e.g. corticosteroids, immunoglobulins), severe aplastic anaemia in patients with insufficient response to immunosuppressive therapy, and thrombocytopenia in adult patients with chronic hepatitis C to allow the initiation and maintenance of interferon-based therapy.
Eltrombopag (as Olamine) is also indicated in combination with standard immunosuppressive therapy for the first-line treatment of adult and paediatric patients aged 6 years and older with severe aplastic anaemia.
